Full Tune
Our full tune service is meant to get your skis or snowboard as close to new as possible. First, we run your ski or snowboard through several belts of varying coarseness to flatten the base and remove all minor scrapes and scratches. After the base is flattened, we run your ski or snowboard over a large rotating stone which puts a linear structure in the base from tip to tail. Doing this allows the ski or snowboard to track in a straight line and gives the moisture between the snow and the base of your skis or snowboard a place to travel.
The machine used in this process is the Wintersteiger Sigma SBI: an Austrian-engineered machine that few ski shops in the area possess. Without the Wintersteiger, we wouldn't be able to do precise work on the base of your skis or snowboard.
Once the base is done, we run your skis or snowboard through our mini edger, which uses a rotating belt to sharpen the base and side edges. Unless you tell us otherwise, we'll sharpen your skis or snowboard at a 1-degree base edge and a 1-degree side edge.

When the edges are done, we run a gummy stone by hand along the edge to remove any metal burrs that are left over from the tuning process. This is done to ensure you aren't catching an edge or having difficulty engaging or coming out of your turns.

Finally, we melt on the appropriate temperature wax, scrape the wax off, and buff the bases with a rotating brush.

Race Tune
A race tune is the same as a full tune, but with the exception that instead of sharpening the edges on a machine, we use hand files to precisely tune the edges.
Sharpen & Wax
We run your skis or snowboard through our mini edger, which uses a rotating belt to sharpen the base and side edges.

Stone Grind
We run your ski or snowboard over a large rotating stone which puts a linear structure in the base from tip to tail. Doing this allows the ski or snowboard to track in a straight line and gives the moisture between the snow and the base of your skis or snowboard a place to travel, preventing suction.

Hand Tunes
Hand tuning is a more intensive and exact process that allows the tech to make very precise angles on the edges of your skis or snowboard. It's more exact and removes less material on the edges.

With hand tunes, we run several different files with angle guides on the edges to ensure the exact angle you desire. Once the edge angles are set, we hot wax the ski with the temperature wax that works best on the current conditions.

Binding Adjustment
We use your height, weight, age, ability, and boot sole length to determine the proper DIN setting for your skis. DIN is the setting we adjust the binding to that sets the spring tension in the toe and heel piece, allowing the binding to release when it's supposed to. We make sure to test the release settings by performing a sideways release on the toes and forward release on the heels of both skis. This helps ensure the bindings release at the correct force.
Alpine and Telemark Ski Mount
We use your height, weight, age, ability, and boot sole length to determine the proper DIN settings and the specific location to mount the toe and heel piece of both skis. We make sure to test the release settings by performing a sideways release on the toes and forward release on the heels of both skis. This helps ensure the bindings release at the correct force.
Snowboard Mount
We'll ask you for your preferred stance on the snowboard, including width between your feet, angle of your bindings, and which foot you prefer forward. If you don't know all of these yet, we'll be sure to run through your options.

Cross Country Ski Mount
We balance each cross country ski to determine its balance point, which serves as a reference for mounting the bindings.
